West Coast College recently hosted the Allan Gray Inter-Campus Entrepreneurship Competition at its Vredenburg Campus, where students showcased impressive business ideas and ventures in front of peers, staff, and invited guests.
This dynamic event brought together students from across the college to compete in two categories:
💡 I Have a Business Idea
🏪 I Have a General Business
After a competitive round of presentations and judging, the top achievers were announced:
I Have a Business Idea
🥇 Simamkele Ngoxo
🥈 Solomzi Ndingandinga
🥉 Tintswalo Hulla
I Have a General Business
🥇 Lerato Phoko
🥈 Shane Hoop
🥉 Kaylah Mentoor
The top two in each category will now go on to represent West Coast College at the Regional Entrepreneurship Competition, taking place in August and hosted by Northlink College.
The college was honoured to welcome Councillor Enid Plaatjies from the West Coast District Municipality as keynote speaker. Her message of encouragement, resilience, and belief in youth entrepreneurship left a lasting impact on both participants and attendees.
Mr Andre Muller, Acting Deputy Principal: Innovation and Development, praised all the participants and offered words of motivation:
“We would like to congratulate the student entrepreneurs who will be representing the college at the regional competition. We also wish all the other entrepreneurs well for their business ventures and would like to encourage those who have business ideas to build on the idea to make it a viable business. We invite all of them to visit the Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator at the Vredenburg Campus, which is ready to support their businesses and help make them profitable.”
West Coast College continues to invest in the growth of student entrepreneurs through competitions like this and ongoing support offered by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (CfERI). The college believes that with the right guidance and resources, students can turn their ideas into sustainable, impactful businesses.
