APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION

  1. What is the difference between APPLICATION and REGISTRATION?

You first APPLY and submit all the necessary documents.  The College will then process your application.  You then need to REGISTER.

 

  1. Can I apply if I have only completed grade 9 to study at the college?

Yes, you can apply to study any of our National Certificate (Vocational) or NC(V) programmes that you only need grade 9 to start studying

 

  1. What set of documents do I need to complete the Academic application?

The following documents are required:

  • Proof of address, ID and Highest results

 

  1. Can I register for the next level of studies before I get my results yet?

No, you need to have your results and passed in order to get access to register for the next level. Therefore, the Semester students (Returning) N5 and N6 students are able to register and we are in the process of admitting New students to register.

 

  1. Can I still come to the campus to apply and register as in the past?

We would like to encourage all students to exercise all the needed protocols related to the COVID-19 measures on the campus. This includes social distancing and gathering of crowded spaces.  Preferably apply and register ONLINE.

  1. How do I upload my documents? 

To upload your documents go to the website www.westcoastcollege.co.za, on the Student Portal go to Student enquiry – Certificate seen

 

  1. How do I upload my academic report?

A How to Guide is available on the website www.westcoastcollege.co.za on the Student Portal and will guide you through the process.

  1. What does it mean if I am academically admitted?

This means that you have applied, uploaded all your needed documents, submitted all that has been required from you and been selected by the selection panel to be able to register from the 18th of January 2022 at West Coast College.


PINS, EMAILS AND PASSWORDS

  1. Where do I get my WCC email address?

If you are an existing student your email address is:

Username:  studentnr@mywcc.co.za

Password:  P@ssword

If you are a new student, you will only be allocated a WCC email after you have successfully registered.

 

  1. How do I get my pin?

Existing students – have to request your pin and the pin will go to your WCC email; for first time applicant, the pin was created on application by student.
 

  1. What does Illegal pin mean?

 Illegal pin means that you have entered your pin or student number incorrectly

  1. Can the college assist me with resetting my pin?

Yes, you can send a screenshot of the problem that you are receiving and then include that with your student number to the following email addresses:

  1. Can I register online immediately after I have completed an application?

No, you can online register after your application has gone through the selection process and then after you have been selected and informed that you have been selected then only can you register online.

  1. How do I register for a subject I failed if I am a returning student?

Please consult your campus as all exam only subject registrations are being done manually on campus.

  1. What does the message “The institution has not yet permitted the use of this option to you. Please contact us with your any queries” mean?

 This means that the student has not been admitted yet and that the college is still processing your application.  The web status will change when you are eligible to continue.

  1. What does the message “The institution has not yet permitted the use of this option to you. Please contact us with any queries.  Thank you.” mean?

This means that the student has not been admitted yet and allocated a room.  The college is still processing your application.  The web status will change when you are eligible to continue.

  1. What does the message “Application prohibited, you have reached the maximum number of application allowed” mean?

 This means that the student has already applied for residence.

  

  1. What does FIN message mean?

FIN message means that you need to consult with the campus admin.  Queries can be sent to the Bursary Clerk per campus.

COMMUNICATION

  1. What form of communication will the college use to communicate with me?

The college will be communicating with you via your official WCC Student Email and SMS, it is therefore VERY important to keep your email password private and safe.


NSFAS

  1. Can I register for NSFAS after the NSFAS deadline has closed?

Yes, you can. Applications must however, be done on CAMPUS.

  1. When does NSFAS applications close?

The portal will close as advertised on the social media pages.

  1. How can we check on our NSFAS bursary application?

All students must register to MYNSFAS and check their bursary status. Returning and New.

  1. What documents do I need to complete the NSFAS bursary application?

The following documents are required:

  • Proof of address, ID and Highest results

 

RESIDENCE

  1. Can I apply for residence at West Coast College?

Only returning students will be able to be accommodated in the college and private accommodation as a result of the amount of funding we have received. Please note that you too need to be fully vaccinated should you wish to stay in the college accommodation and your vaccine certificate should be uploaded on the system.

  1. Does the college have temporary accommodation for us while we wait for the college to approve my college residence application?

No, the college does not have ANY temporary accommodation for ANY student available while they wait for feedback on their residence application, therefore we will advise that NO student come to the college and expect residence while your application is being processed.

  1. Must I register for college accommodation or private accommodation?

Yes, once your APPLICATION has been approved, you will receive an sms to say you must REGISTER.

 

TRANSPORT

  1. How do I know what routes are available?

Detailed list of transport routes are available on the website.

  1. Is the transport currently running should I want to visit the campus for assistance with my registration and application?

Yes, limited transport is currently available for students wanting to go to the campus for assistance and support.

 

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

  1. What COVID-19 protocols are in place?

We have a detailed COVID19 protocol strategy.  Students are required to wear masks at all time and adhere to instructions clearly visible which include social distancing and sanitising.
