During March West Coast TVET College Vredendal Campus’ Primary Health Students and lectures joined the Local Health Department in Vredendal to celebrate World TB Day. This was a great experience for the Primary Health students to be part of the awareness campaign, but also to promote the Primary Health programme which is offered at the Vredendal Campus.

Not only were they concentrating on sharing information with the members of the community that were screened by the Local Department of Health regarding TB but also shared information about other diseases such as HIV and AIDS and various things that can help prevent such diseases.

“We believe that this experience with our stakeholder partner, the Local Department of Health, has ensured that the Primary Health students gained more knowledge and a positive mindset on what will be expected of them when they enter the world of work once they have concluded their studies at the college,” says Rhazia Hamza, Deputy Principal: Innovation and Development of West Coast TVET College.
