West Coast College is honoured to have received support from Sea Harvest NPC, which has donated a total of R10 000 to the first-place winners of the College’s Entrepreneurship Competition in the I Have a Trade Business (Simiso Biyela) and I Have a Tech Business (Karabelo Frans Borokelo) categories.
The donation forms part of Sea Harvest NPC’s commitment to investing in youth development and supporting the growth of future entrepreneurs.
“We would like to show that Sea Harvest is not just about fish, but about growing the youth and investing in the next generation of tradespeople and occupationally skilled minds who will contribute to the growth of our country,” said Allison Huyster of Sea Harvest.
Each of the winning entrepreneurs received R5 000, which will be used to strengthen and expand their businesses, enabling them to increase their impact within their communities and create further opportunities for growth.
The donation comes at an important time for the young entrepreneurs, who will now turn their attention to the regional entrepreneurship competition that will take place in Upington in August. There, they will compete against some of the region’s most promising young business minds for an opportunity to represent the region at the national competition in September.
“West Coast College is truly honoured to be part of the journeys of these two entrepreneurs. We would like to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams of growing their businesses and becoming the employers who will help shape the economic landscapes of their communities, region and country,” said Mr Riaan Hoffman, Deputy Principal: Partnerships, Innovation and Development at West Coast College.
West Coast College extends its sincere appreciation to Sea Harvest NPC for its investment in student entrepreneurship and for recognising the important role that young business owners play in driving innovation, job creation and economic development.
Through partnerships such as these, the College continues to foster an entrepreneurial culture that empowers students not only to seek employment, but also to create employment opportunities for others. The College remains committed to supporting its student entrepreneurs as they progress through the competition and continue building businesses that have the potential to transform their communities and contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s economy.
