CEO's message 2011

Welcome to West Coast College!

Thank you for choosing West Coast College. We are here to give students the best of support to enable them to live a meaningful life.

West Coast College continues to grow because of the popularity of our programme offerings. Not only do we offer full-time studies in the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) programmes, but we also offer various learnerships and skills programmes, and each year we add more.

Because we understand the socio-economic conditions of our students, we are committed to support them financially, especially for those who need it most. Not only do we source bursaries from outside agencies, but the college also has its own Financial Aid Fund to supplement current support schemes. We welcome the assistance of companies and organisations who want to partner us in this regard. (See also Financial Aid Fund tab).

We trust that with our career guidance and support students will be comfortable with their academic field. It is important that you must know what you want to achieve, and feel comfortable with your choice. Remember, we also offer ongoing academic support to make sure that students return the best results

As a college we network with several employers on a daily basis, and we are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to place our graduates in jobs. Whilst we cannot guarantee that each and everyone will exit into a job, we always try our best to support students in their efforts to become employable.

You will find that we do not only care about what happens in the classroom, we also want to make sure that students develop socially. Our Student Support Services Unit offer counseling support, cultural and recreation activities and a variety of sport programmes to showcase students talents

As a College Management we value inputs of the students, that is why we take our student leadership seriously. The SRC is an important part of this institution, and they participate in various activities of college life.

I want to encourage students to consistently show their seriousness by studying hard and attending all classes. If students fail their exams they will not be considered for bursary support, so it is important that they do well and pass their exams.

For students in the college, I trust your stay with us will be a lasting experience, and that you will continue to treasure your memories about your studies at West Coast College. We urge you to stay in contact with us, even if you leave.

For prospective students, we welcome you joining us in the future. Keep a look out for when we are in your area or visit the nearest campus for further information.
